Datajam @ Hacknights

Monday, June 21st, 2010

In 2006, I did an audiovisual DATAJAM in Gothenburg together with Dino, Yoki, Booger, Mortimer Twang and Optiroc. Live coding, music and graphics. Yesterday me, Frantic, Jucke and Dino made a similar thing at Hacknight #2 in Malmö. On this photo you can see five C-64s, a serato setup, midi drums, and a wersiboard. While me and Frantic improvised with defMON, he also used his drums and keyboard. Jucke scratched with C64-sounds and Dino drew his PETSCII live. Maximum data experience!

HT Gold @ Playlist

Sunday, June 20th, 2010

HT Gold is a C-64 piece made by Frantic and me, currently showing at the Playlist exhibition in Brussels. This is a short video documentation of it by Rosa Menkman. “The girl got very frustrated, afraid and almost started crying asking for her mother when the game did not work the way she thought it was supposed to.” >> The sound is not the original soundtrack, but a live-set by Tonylight.

Rotterdam, Tilburg, Brussels, Berlin, Malmö

Wednesday, June 2nd, 2010

This weekend, the new edition of the Playlist exhibition starts in Brussels. I feel almost over-represented as I’ve contributed to exhibited works by James Dingle, Entter, Raquel Meyers, Mats den Andre, Erik Nilsson, Boogerlab and also in Rosa Menkman’s video with music made under the name Extraboy. Still, it seems to be a great exhibition. See it now! Also, there’s three live-shows coming up, with visuals by Raquel Meyers and a hacker-jam-workshop thing at a hacker space in Malmö.

June 4 @ Dance to the Bit, Rotterdam, nl w/ Flex Busterman, Computadora, Je Deviens DJ En 3 Jours & Microtterdam DJs. I’ll play an early ambient-ish set.

June 5 @ Crackbits 2.5, Tilburg, nl w/ Flex Busterman, R10T33R, Gameboys A Gogo.

June 11 @ Tresor, Berlin, de. VisualBerlin festival w/ e.g. Stu, Tonylight, Decrepticton, Notendo, Lance Blisters. I will also do a workshop/lecture here, and some undercover tom-foolery.

June 19 @ Hacknight #2, Malmö, se. Me and Glenn Again will improvise with Defmon and other secret C64-softwares, but also make a workshop entitled “Beyond bleep-blop: C64 as music monster”. Sign up for it here.

Accidents in Celluloid and Pixel

Tuesday, September 8th, 2009

Filmmuseum Amsterdam has a Celluloid Remix Project for which Rosa Menkman made a video with my Arp2500-music. The first one is in colour (after a while), and the second one is black and white. Two other works by her, recently released in new versions, use music that I made under the name Extraboy aswell: Radio Dada and compress process.

Bughug#2

So coders, how do you explain this?

I made a 5 minute gabber tune in Protracker for my Amiga, but when I loaded it today it had turned into this. It freezes just after you press play, and loops the pattern-position it’s on (usually). But the song keeps changing though.

This is 3 videos edited into one (cuts at 1.08 and 1.33) but no other postproduction has been made. FYI, the speech synthesis in the beginning says Protracker Rules, and is there every time I start Protracker. Hot scripting action!

If you like this, you probably break down in happy tears from this.
